Home Visiting

Early Head Start Home Visiting

The Dimock Center’s Home Visiting program brings early childhood education and family support directly to you. Through weekly home visits, our home visitors work with you and your child in the comfort of your own home, building on your family’s strengths and helping your child grow and thrive from the very beginning.

The program is free for families who qualify and runs year-round.

Who We Serve

This program serves expectant mothers and families with children from birth through age three who live in one of six Boston neighborhoods: Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, Jamaica Plain, Roslindale, or Hyde Park.

Each week, a trained home visitor will come to your home for a visit focused on your child’s learning and your family’s goals. Visits include:

  • Early learning activities tailored to your child’s age and development
  • Support for positive parenting practices and parent-child relationships
  • Early detection of developmental delays and health concerns
  • Connection to community resources and family support services
  • Group socialization opportunities for you and your child
  • Prenatal and post-partum education and support

Families who participate in our Home Visiting program see meaningful results:

  • Increased knowledge of child development and school readiness
  • Stronger parenting confidence and skills
  • Earlier identification of developmental delays and health issues
  • Improved health and well-being for the whole family
  • Greater school readiness for children as they grow

This program is federally funded and available at no cost to families who meet income, residency, and other eligibility requirements. Families must live in one of the following Boston neighborhoods: Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, Jamaica Plain, Roslindale, or Hyde Park.

To prove eligibility requirements, families may be asked to provide:
