Emergency Shelter Program

Our Mary Eliza Mahoney House Emergency Family Shelter (MEMH) program is a closed referral program serving Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) homeless families. We provide comprehensive care and shelter for up to 26 families, along with referral services for education and housing, through pro-active case management for residents to regain their self-sufficiency.

Our program works to reduce the barriers that exist for families having difficulties locating safe, affordable, secure housing. Residents in our shelters may stay up to 120 days.  While the search for permanent housing is our main focus, Mary Eliza Mahoney House’s staff work to assist all families in navigating service-based programs both on and off campus.
