Jeannette Ortiz – Health Services Board Member
When asked to describe The Dimock Center in one word, Jeannette replied “Family.” Jeannette Ortiz has been a part of the Dimock family since 1998. She was hired as a referral coordinator in the health center and later held different administrative roles in adult medicine, referrals and billing. In her six years at Dimock she met many providers and staff across the campus.
When Jeannette moved on in her professional career, she and her children remained patients at the health center, and youngest children and grandson are currently pediatric patients. Jeannette has a wonderful relationship with Dr. Oh, Chief Medical Officer, who remains pediatrician to Jeannette’s family. “I am confident in the advice she gives me about my daughters and grandson – if I call with a question I can rely on the fact that Dr. Oh will get back to me,” Jeannette says.
Dimock is special to Jeannette because she does not feel like “just another patient.” Dimock is a family and she is a part of it. “The providers take the time to get to know you,” Jeannette explains. She is proud to expand her relationship with Dimock through the Health Services Board. Her goal coming into this role was to understand the services and programs Dimock has to offer. As a former employee and patient, Jeannette feels that she has a unique perspective. She especially likes the fact that the board is made up of patients and people in the community who provide valuable feedback about Dimock’s work and goals. “The fact that Dimock is taking the time to include us and value [our opinions] is very important to me,” Jeannette reflects.
We are deeply grateful to Jeannette and to all of Dimock’s volunteer leaders. Thank you for being a part of The Dimock Family.
Carroy (Cuf) Ferguson – Community Services Board Member
Wow! 14 years. Little did I know at the time of the merger of Dorchester Counseling Center with Dimock that I would be joining an organization with such a wonderful history and a wonderful soul, filled with such dedicated and caring people. I guess there is some truth to the notion that time seems to fly when you’re having fun…especially having fun and enjoying the great work of Dimock’s staff and boards. In that light, it is and has been a genuine pleasure for me to serve these many years as a board member, to witness the wonderful growth and engaging transformations of Dimock, and to share in the many accomplishments of Dimock.
I feel blessed for having the opportunity to serve and I have a tremendous amount of affection for all with whom I have had the pleasure to serve. I look forward to continuing to serve for many more years. I want to express my gratitude to Dimock, and to Dr. Jordan, for the award. This is a very thoughtful honor and recognition. It is and has been truly a labor of love.
